@rxu I followed the instructions here https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... upgrade31/ i have done a comparison of the config folder on the site with the config folder in the 3.3.12 pack and they are identical. (I can't see anything in there that looks like posting.lock though would there be a specific file to check for? )

I disabled all extension
I updated aero style to 1.1.4 the latest version
I updated from 3.3.10 which was working fine.
After all these suggestions the 500 remains![:(]( "Sad")
